Dr. Saad Saad’s Two Life-Shaping Events

Dr. Saad Saad, a pediatric surgeon of 47 years before his retirement, was born in country of Palestine towards latter years of 1940’s. His father was a highly skilled petroleum mechanic and he has seven siblings, who like him are very successful.

Dr. Saad Saad and his seven siblings were raised and educated in the country of Kuwait because of the establishment of the country of Israel, which forced a great number of Palestinian families to leave Palestine and find a home in a different country.

Dr. Saad Saad found a home in Kuwait where he pursued a high level of education due to his father’s urging. It is also in Kuwait where he conceived of the vision to become a pediatric surgeon after two events occurred to shape his future.

The first event happened when Dr. Saad Saad was in elementary school. His father used the family’s status as refugees without a country, individuals who no passports, and persons without a bright future to get the message across to him that he must get a high level of education in order to be successful in life and be respected by others. This talking by his father had the effect of igniting a drive in Dr. Saad Saad that would result in him pursuing a high level of education and applying himself studiously to his studies.

The second event took place when Dr. Saad Saad was in high school and when he had serious thoughts of obtaining a career in the field of engineering. But everything changed when he went with his brothers to a construction site and experienced a heat stroke while there due to the brutal heat of a typical summer day in the country of Kuwait. This experience caused Dr. Saad Saad to seriously rethink his plan to pursue a career in engineering. Eventually, Dr. Saad Saad fixed his mind to becoming a doctor, a pediatric surgeon to be precise, after making the discovery that the operating room has air conditioning.

To become a pediatric surgeon, Dr. Saad Saad attended medical school at Cairo University where he not only graduated but graduated with honors ranking second in his class. Dr. Saad Saad, shortly after completing an internship in the United Kingdom, procured permission to immigrated to the United States to do his residency in pediatric surgery.

After completion of the residency program, Dr. Saad Saad applied to become a USA Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon and successful earned the honor of becoming such, the achievement of which made possible him becoming the Pediatric Surgeon to the children of the Saudi Royal family.

Dr. Saad Saad ultimately finished his exceptional career as a U. S. Board Certified Pediatric Surgeon at the K Hovnanian Children Hospital as the hospital’s co-director and surgeon-in-chief. His advice to all is as follows: “Reaching your goals in not impossible if you insist on it.”
